Q&A: Taylor tackles questions as senior finishes hardcourt career
Q: What got you into sports? (and what sports do you play)
A: I played all sports growing up, but I mostly played baseball and basketball. My parents got me into sports. My parents were big athletes; my mom was a gymnast and my dad was a basketball player. They both were very successful athletes and they pushed me everyday growing up to be a better athlete and person.
Q: How do you balance sports with school?
A: I make sure to use my time wisely and be sure to stay on top of my assignments and get them in on time or early. I’m a student athlete; student comes first, athlete comes after.
Q: Who has helped you the most during your career?
A: I have had so many people impact me in so many ways, but over my career it would have to be my parents. They are always there for me through all the ups and downs.
Q: What are you looking forward to regarding your senior year?
A: Taking the next step and playing college basketball at the next level.
Q: What are your after high school plans?
A: Attend a 4-year and play basketball.
Q: What have sports done for you - what's the biggest takeaway?
A: The biggest takeaway from sports is work ethic. If you aren’t willing to put in the work, then why do you even play sports? If you aren’t willing to give your best effort every time, then why are you doing it? So many athletes nowadays think they are working hard but they simply aren’t. It starts with you. If you want to be successful then one day you work hard for it and you never give up. That is a very important factor. Just because you aren’t seeing any improvement in what you are doing doesn’t mean you should give up, just keep working hard.
Q: Who is your favorite famous athlete and why?
A: My favorite famous athlete is the goat Michael Jordan. He is so inspirational. He worked his butt off everyday no matter what and he never gave up. He always pushed himself, and played with a chip on his shoulder.
