Retraction

The Index has retracted Max Carlin’s article regarding reporting by the Oshkosh Examiner. In that article, Carlin falsely reported that the Examiner labeled Chancellor Andrew Leavitt as “a racist.” This was a patently false statement that was never printed in the Examiner and was sheerly Carlin’s interpretation of its reporting. Additionally, Carlin failed to disclose that his parents both work for UWO, which constitutes a conflict of interest. While the Index does take seriously the right to commentary on events in the public sphere, we erred in publishing an opinion piece that contained reporting inaccuracies that have defamed the Examiner.
