What are the Index editors thankful for?

Keerthana Ambati-  I am very thankful for all of God’s promises and being able to enjoy one day at a time. I’m also thankful for the extra sleep I get in the morning because of being online… yay for silver linings. 

Akashraj Karthikeyan - I am thankful for my family, which has been more closely-knit than ever before in these trying times. I am also grateful for the teachers, healthcare workers, first responders, and essential workers putting forth double the effort this year for all the rest of us.

Hannah Olson - This year I am thankful for the time I get to spend with my family. I am also thankful that my family has stayed safe and healthy during this time. 


Emma Olson - I am thankful and blessed to have great friends and a loving family. I am also thankful that it is Christmas time and I can jam out to holiday tunes. But more importantly, I am thankful that 2020 is almost over! 

Zade Alzoubi - I am thankful for my friends and family. I’m also thankful for good health. 

Marty Bond - I am thankful that my family has been able to stay healthy for another year. I am also thankful that I can reach out to any one of my family members for advice.

Sophie Burke - I am thankful that through everything that has happened this year, I’ve been able to find friends who have stuck by my side and who I consider to be family. I am also thankful that my family has remained healthy and stuck together to try to shed light on the events in our country.


Max Carlin - I am thankful for my overwhelmingly supportive friends and family. I’m also thankful for good health during this pandemic.

Isabelle Cartwright - I am grateful for my parents who are the most selfless people I have ever met. They make so many sacrifices for me and I am so lucky for all they do. 

Hannah Chung - I am thankful for the life lessons I have learned over quarantine. Although this is a difficult time, I am able to better understand and appreciate all of my privileges and reorganize my priorities. 

Abigail Eaton - I am overwhelmingly thankful for God’s provision over the health of my close friends and family. I am also thankful for the opportunities this season has brought me in being able to spend more time at home with my family. 

Abby Furcy - I’m thankful for the technology that’s made it possible for me to stay connected with my family and friends during quarantine, and for the endless support I get from the people who care about me.

Caitlynn Gehl - I’m thankful for the fact that everyone I care about and I have stayed healthy during the pandemic, and for the friends who have helped me make it through this difficult time.

Maria Jerabek - I am thankful for the safety of my friends and family this year and my coworkers at my job. I am also grateful for the teachers still motivating us to learn and preparing us for college.

Drew Lasky - I am thankful for all the opportunities that have been brought before me. I am also blessed with a lot of great friends and a supportive family. I am also thankful for all the teachers that have had to adapt to this odd time so that we can get our education. 

Joe Mayo - I am very thankful for my health and the health of those around me. In times like this it is really important to me that all of my friends and family are in good health through this pandemic. Also, my co-host of the Index podcast, Hunter Willis, and the rest of the Index of course!

Cora Pizon - I am thankful for all the people in my life, but especially my family, friends, and teachers. They shaped me into who I am today and I know I can always look to them for support or to push me into becoming an even better person.  Oh, and I am thankful for my cat.

Jack Rowe - I am thankful for the people in my life who push me towards greatness, test my boundaries, and challenge me everyday. 

Bailey Staerkel - (This is gonna sound weird, but…) I’m thankful for Instagram because it helped me to find a community of artists that I belonged in and allowed me to create an amazing collaboration that I never would’ve had the confidence to do before.

Javit Thao - I’m thankful for the extra time and flexibility that we’ve been given. It’s allowed me to spend more time with family, friends, and explore my creative passions!

William Vu - With everything going on in the world, I am grateful for the little things in life. Everyday, there is something new I am grateful for.

Grace Weber - I am thankful for all of the little blessings in my life that I have been able to find during this quarantine. Especially lefse, if you know you know.

Sage Wesenberg - I am thankful for my family and my friends and everyone who brightens my day. I am grateful for the food on my table and the needs that some may not have. I am also thankful for the new mindset COVID has given me as I live the rest of my life.

Abe Weston - I am thankful for my swaggy friends and my hype family, but if that's too mainstream, I’m thankful for life, my many opportunities, and the power of art. 

Hunter Willis - I am thankful for my friends and the people I surround myself with. Also Joe Mayo.

Mr. Scott - I am thankful that my little Violette has stayed healthy through Covid. I am also blessed by my English department family and a powerful Index crew capable of grinding through any and all challenges. Past crisis points have equipped me to view our current struggles with perspective, and I am thankful that students can grow to count these trials as times to grow!
