Wildcats pursue paranormal possibilities as club explores local haunts
Calling all lovers of ghouls, goblins, and gremlins! Spooky season has arrived, and the Paranormal Club has risen to the occasion. The club hosted several W-hours and activities throughout the month of October, including a paranormal investigation.
There have been many paradigm shifts the club endured before coming to advisor Leeann Morrill.
“I brought the Riverside Walking Tour to the Paranormal Club,” she said. “The previous advisor started a different club and needed a different advisor, so last year was my first year as the paranormal club advisor.”
The year is already off to a full start, with a wide variety of activities for students to partake in.
“So far this year, we have done some fun stuff,” Morrill said. “We went to the Masonic temple, we did a haunted walk, which we put together with the Morgan House.”
A couple chilling encounters struck the members as they investigated the Morgan House.
“At the Morgan House, we saw some things that were pretty unexplainable,” Morrill said. “We talked to a spirit whose name was Syd.”
This is only the beginning of the fun for the paranormal club. The club is always eagerly looking towards the future.
“We have an author coming,” Morrill said. “He’s going to talk about his latest book, which is about ghosts in Wisconsin.”
There are more carefree activities planned as well. Students will have the opportunity to unleash their inner artist.
“We are going to do some paranormal crafts, like crafts for Halloween,” Morrill said.
The club is not going to remain confined to the school, however. An exciting field trip opportunity is currently in the works.
“We hopefully have a field trip to the Julia Farrow museum, which is the Winnebago Mental Health Museum,” Morrill said.
Above all, Morill is most looking forward to an exciting group coming to visit the club.
“What’s most exciting is the Wendigo Paranormal Club,” she said. “They are an actual paranormal club; they are investigators. When they come in, they bring in their equipment, they show us how it works, and they do an investigation.”
There is evidence of this growing interest in the club. It seems that the word has begun to spread about this club, as it is rapidly growing.
“We started out as a smaller club, but at the last couple meetings we’ve had 30 kids,” Morrill said.
Morrill has loved her time with the club.
“I really love the research part of it, and sharing with students different things that are unexplainable,” she said.
There is a purpose behind all these interesting activities put together by the Paranormal Club. It is not just for fun, but for the sake of something fascinating.
“There’s really a growing interest in the paranormal, and the idea that there are things that we can’t explain and people are having experiences we can’t explain,” Morrill said.
